All Aboard the Wazif Express!

Ahmad Wazif, seven, experienced a day in the life of a rail engineer when Make-A-Wish Malaysia and Prasarana Malaysia Berhad treated him to train rides on the MRT, LRT, and monorail lines on Malaysia Day!

Age: 7 (2019)

Illness: B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukaemia

Wish: To be a train engineer

Wish Day: 16th-17th September 2019

Wazif is a shy but attentive boy who was diagnosed with B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukaemia in November 2017. He developed a great interest towards trains since the age of three – so much so that he insists on taking the train to the hospital for his monthly appointments. Wazif has currently completed his treatments.

A meticulous observer and an artistic child at heart, Wazif likes to take in his surroundings and expresses them creatively through his drawings, which include pictures of trains, tracks, train map routes and various train stations.

Wazif's Wish Day journey as a train engineer began on the Monorail, where he had the rare opportunity to "drive" the train, operate the train doors, and make announcements using the control pad buttons in the driver's coach. The next day, Wazif clocked in for duty at the Kelana Jaya line LRT depot. With guidance from the operations team at the Main System Control Center, Wazif discovered how the intricate train control system works and was excited to monitor train movement hands-on. Next, Wazif and the team visited the maintenance department, where he was greeted with a grand welcome announcement. The friendly Prasarana engineers team showed him how train parts are assembled and maintained, leading up to the highlight of Wazif's day – a train wash!

Wazif’s wish was made possible by volunteers from Sapura Energy Berhad, who not only contributed their time and effort, but also connected Make-A-Wish Malaysia with Prasarana Malaysia Berhad to organise the experience.
