Armi Danish, a 15-year-old boy from Selayang, dreams of becoming a well-renowned football player and to play for the national team one day. He wishes to meet Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) Football Club player, Akhyar Rashid.

Age: 15 (2020)

Illness: Ewing Sarcoma

Wish: To meet Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) football player, Akhyar Rashid

Wish Day: 24th July 2020

Known as the ‘star player’ of the football team, Armi Danish was set to represent his school in regionals until he was diagnosed with Ewing’s Sarcoma last year. An operation on his right leg on the 24th of June left him bedridden for a month, and he now walks aided to allow his leg to properly heal. His wished to meet his idol and role model, JDT football player Akhyar Rashid.

With the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, we were unable to organise an in-person meet-up. Nonetheless, the Make-A-Wish team went to Armi’s house on Wish Day for a very special video call. When Akhyar appeared on the screen, Armi squealed with excitement! Despite his busy training schedule, the 21-year-old forward player spent half an hour chatting with Armi about football, Johor, and being a dedicated athlete. Armi got to tell Akhyar some of his personal stories. Later, Akhyar's teammates - Liridon Krasniqi and S.Kunalan - managed to join the call briefly, making it even more unforgettable!

The conversation honestly sounded like two friends catching up. Akhyar told Armi, “Tell me when you are in Johor Bharu…just hit me up and we will hang out okay!” Armi smiled ear-to-ear when Akhyar promised to show him around JDT's training facilities. The call ended with Akhyar telling Armi to stay strong and inspired, and to keep in touch with him.

What a special wish it was for everyone involved! We wish Armi a speedy recovery and can’t wait to see him playing football professionally!
